DM Pottery = Denise McDonald

I am a potter based in Sydney, Australia. I want to create beautiful ceramic work that functions well and brings special moments into the daily lives of my customers.

I produce several ranges of ceramic tablewares that celebrate our unique Australian flora, heritage decorative patterns and motifs, found textures and rich glazes. Pieces have a contemporary design with a hint of nostalgia and fun. My most popular work features a 100 year old flannel flower pattern sourced from a Federation house in Sydney.

I have trained in potteries in England and Australia to learn my craft from the roots up, using time honoured skills and new innovative techniques to make art for everyday living.

Technical Details:

I fire my work to stoneware temperatures (Cone 6 - approx 1200C and Cone 9 - approx 1260C). These high temperatures mature the clays I use and makes the wares non-porous, strong and chip resistant.

All surfaces that could come into contact with food are food safe.

I fire in an electric kiln in suburban Sydney.
